As an Albertan, I’ve often taken for granted the inexplicable grandeur and proximity of the Rocky Mountains. So, to make up for this obscene ignorance and take in some fresh mountain air, 6 amigos and I jump started our summer road trips with a quick visit to Canmore, Alberta. Being only a four hour drive away (three point five, if you’re cheeky), we made the drive down on Thursday while singing along to Songs About Jane (flawlessly, if I might add), only to spend the night lounging around and playing Smash Brothers on Eric’s WiiU. But, being the hardcore hikers that we are (jk), we made sure to start off our hikes with something like fourteen sandwiches packed, some bear mace, and a 9 km trek to the Bow Glacier Falls. And, because that wasn’t hard enough, the next day we tackled Ha Ling Peak–only an 8 km hike this time, but with an elevation of 700m (for the record, my legs are still sore). But, at least the view was swell, a mountain goat was spotted, and I got to swing my feet over the edge of a mountain. All in all, not a bad weekend at all.CLOTHING C/O SWEATY BETTY
